Patricia And Edward Tibbles

Patricia Ann (Leggate) Tibbles and Edward Arthur (Ted) Tibbles.
The beloved couple will be laid to rest in the town where their beautiful union of 64 years began.
Patsy Leggate, daughter of Andrew and Gertrude, was born October 1, 1933, and raised in Burk's Falls.  She became a Registered Nurse at Women's College Hospital in Toronto.
Pat was the youngest sister of Norma (Hamley) and Irene (Armstrong).
Her life of service to the community included operating Red Cross Blood donor clinics in the basement of the Church of the Master (United Church of Canada) in Scarborough where she and Ted were active members. From nursing she became a patient favourite working in the dental practice of Dr. Jim Kerr for more than a quarter century.

The love of her life , Ted Tibbles, was born in Scarborough Junction on September 20, 1928 to Leslie and Ellen Tibbles. He was predeceased by younger brother Bruce. Ted's passion for the outdoors led to fishing and camping trips across the country with the couple's young family.

He worked for The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company in Toronto for more than 25 years and with Montreal Trust. Ted was also very involved in the United Church and worked for some time at the General Council Office in Toronto. Community service included time as a dedicated Scout Master with the 8th Bendale Troop in Scarborough. In retirement his passions included building and flying remote controlled aircraft in Baden, Ontario where Pat and Ted relocated.

Many early summer vacations were spent at Lake Bernard or at 'Johnny Fuller's' on Lake Cecebe. A special time of year for the family was returning to Burk's Falls for 'Old Home Weekend’ and visits with old friends and family.
Their final years were spent together in the compassionate care of staff at Taunton Mills in Whitby.

Pat left us on Monday November 12, 2018.
Ted passed on October 30, 2020.
They were the proud parents of Kevin (Marie Andree Laberge), Blair (Jan Graham) and Susan (David Sharp). Grandchildren are Aurora, Andreas, Avalon, Marguerite, Marla and Jacqueline. Their first great-granddaughter, Mae, came into this world August 28, 2022.

Their burial in Burk's Falls brings Mom and Dad's union full circle, as the couple were married at the Burk's Falls United Church in 1954.

'Day is done, but love unfailing
Dwells ever here;
Shadows fall, but hope prevailing,
Calms ev'ry fear.
Loving Father, none forsaking,
Take our hearts, of love's own making,
Watch our sleeping, guard our waking,
Be always near.
'
