Peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday July 16, 2022, at Fairvern Nursing Home in Huntsville.  Mel McLaren, beloved husband of Lynda, was in his 88th year.
Dear father of Wendy (Shane), Glenn (Sue), Melanie, Dale (Cara), Kim (Carl), and Rob (Ashley).
Proud grandfather of Ashtyn, Meghan, Lauren, Graycee, Kolby, Olivia, Brennan, Lane and Kylie.
Survived by sister Bev (Paul), brother-in-law Glen (Pat) and predeceased by siblings Wilfred (late Jan), Vera (late Dave) and parents Violet and Walter McLaren and stepfather Arthur Knight.
Proud owner of Mel McLaren Trucking, a hard worker forever in plaid, a gentle giant with the kindest blue eyes, a sunny disposition and a proud father and grandfather.  Mel will be fondly remembered by all of his nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
The family will receive visitors at Zion United Church, 49 Main Street in Sundridge on Sunday July 24, 2022, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm.  A service to celebrate Mel’s life will be conducted in Zion United Church commencing at 11:00 am on Monday July 25, 2022, with Reverend Sandra Jenkinson officiating.  Cremation has taken place.
If desired, memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
