Thomas "Dick" Rogers

Feb 15, 1936 — Sep 13, 2026

formerly of Sundridge

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Thomas Richard Carlton “Dick” Rogers, who died peacefully on the morning of September 13, 2026, at Serenity Hospice in North Bay, Ontario, in his 91st year.

Dick leaves behind his best friend and beloved wife of 36 years, Gloria-Jean (née Smith). Their years together were filled with love, friendship, devotion, and countless memories that Gloria will hold close to her heart.

He is also survived by his sister, Mary Wallace.

He was a loving father to Lisa Rogers-Hall (Jerry Hall), Paul Rogers (Dawn), Scott Brandt (Sheri), and Doug Brandt (Lee-Ann). His family was an important part of his life, and he took great joy in watching it grow through the years.

Dick was deeply loved by his grandchildren: Thomas, Jake (Daniela), Bradley, Annalise, Christopher (Mel), Jessica, Dylon (Chelsea), Dalton (Jessica), Chelsea (Neil), Iain (Fiorella), Kimberley, and Carly.

He was also a proud and cherished great-grandfather to Payton, Hunter, Avery, River, and Mia. Each of them brought something special to his life and will carry forward their own treasured memories of him.

Throughout his life, Dick pursued many interests and adventures. He had a great love for flying and took pride in the construction and renovation of many buildings. He enjoyed travelling and spending many winters in Florida, where he could often be found on the golf course. Dick was also creative and talented with his hands, making numerous special mementos for his loved ones. These thoughtful creations will remain lasting reminders of his love, creativity, and the time he devoted to the people who meant the most to him.

Over the course of more than nine decades, Dick touched many lives. He experienced a lifetime of change, built lasting relationships, and created memories that will continue to be shared by those who knew and loved him. His passing leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled, but his family is grateful for the many years they were blessed to have him in their lives.

Dick will be remembered not only for the life he lived, but also for the love he shared and the special place he held within his family. Although he is no longer with us, his memory will remain alive in the stories that are told, the lessons that are passed down, the mementos he created, and the love that continues through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend its sincere and heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Nipissing Serenity Hospice for the kindness, dignity, care, and compassion shown to Dick during his final days. Their support brought comfort to Dick and his family during a very difficult time.

Dick will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his family, extended family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

Family will receive friends at the Opatovsky Funeral Home – Moore Chapel on Monday, September 21, 2026 from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm. Followed by the burial at Burks Falls Cemetery. If desired, donations to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
