Steve Edward Rodgers

Passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Huntsville Hospital surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, May 23, 2026, he was in his 75th year.

Beloved partner of the late Maria Travassos. Cherished father of Carrie McMillen (Colin) and Troy Rodgers (Elizabeth). Proud grandfather to Austin, Evan, Alexis, Brooklyn, Layne and Haylee. Great-Grandfather to Scarlett.

Born seventh in a family of twelve to the late Arnold and Aleda (nee Tibbitts) Rodgers. Brother to Terry (Linda), Diana Oakley (the late Don), the late Linda Rodgers (the late Leo Morin), the late Betty Cotterell (the late Earl), Wayne (Donna), Jim (Wendy), Warren (Marjorie), Julie Hughes (Larry), Charlene Williams (Wally), Rick (Debbie) and Wanda Phiilips (Tom). Proud Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Steve was an active angler, hunter and member of his community belonging to the Almalguin Mission Church, Men’s Bible Study, Burks Falls Community Centre cards, Burks Falls bowling leagues and Katrine Corn Hole league.

A special thank you to the nurses and doctors at Huntsville Hospital for their care of Steve.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Almaguin Mission Church – 13 Church Rd, South River ON P0A 1X0 on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 1:00 pm. Cremation has taken place at Forest Lawn Crematorium. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Opatovsky Funeral Home - Dempster Chapel. Internment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Georgetown at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to the Mission Church would be gratefully acknowledged as expression of sympathy.
