Ruth Marie MacKay

Our family is sad to share the news of the passing of (Ruth) Marie MacKay on April 18, 2026 from complications of aging.
Born to Henry and Myrtle Blakelock in September 1934, she enjoyed a happy childhood with siblings Goldie, Violet, Ted, Fred, Bonnie, Daphne and Joy. 

In Burk’s Falls High School she met Murray and they wed in 1955. Determined to have a secure future, they took a chance at self-employment and opened Complete Rent-Alls in Hamilton. The success of this business venture allowed them world travel and the opportunity to build their dream retirement home on the MacKay Family farm in Burk’s Falls. A beautiful place where friends and family were, and still are always welcomed. 

Marie and Murray always gave lots of love, support and gentle guidance to their family and their house was a hub for family gatherings. She will be remembered for her superb cooking and kind heart. 

Left to mourn are her son, Ed and Theresa and their family; David and Magdalena; Ryan and Taylor. Great grandchildren Hanelie, Greyson and Finley. 

And her daughter, Pam and Phil Newport and their family: Holly, Noah, and Nathan as well as Jack who passed in 2002. 

Although Mom, Grandma, GG has left all her “Best Friends” she will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her sweet nature. Many of her loved ones were with her as she peacefully passed and the others were there in love and spirit. She is finally reunited with Dad in heaven as well as Jack and all the other loved ones who have gone before. A perfect way to honour Marie would be to perform a random act of kindness. 

A memorial service will be held at the Opatovsky Funeral Home – Dempster Chapel on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at 1:00 p.m.
