Rodney Charles Johnston, born on July 7, 1952, in Burks Falls, Ontario, passed away at his home in Jordan, Ontario, on June 3, 2025. He was the son of Ofi Onus Johnston and Mary Ellen (Harkness) Johnston.
Rodney is predeceased by his parents and his brother, Lloyd Johnston. He is survived by his brother, Garry Johnston and his wife, Barbara. He is also survived by his beloved wife, Susan (Ledwick) Johnston, his son, Nicholas Charles Johnston, his daughter-in-law Abby Ramos, and his adored grandson, Dante Charles.
Rodney dedicated 33 years to CN Rail in Signals and Communications. Beyond his career, it was his remarkable ability to connect with people that truly defined him. He had a knack for striking up conversations, leaving even new acquaintances feeling like old friends. In retirement, Rodney pursued his interests in photography, cooking, and baking, and took great pride in his volunteer work. He cherished travelling with Susan, whether by airplane across the Atlantic or across Canada in his treasured Nissan sports car. Always ready with friendly banter and a good 'dad joke,' Rodney found immense joy in simply being around friends and family, a testament to his warm spirited nature.
Family and friends are invited to the Tallman Funeral Home, 3277 King Street, Vineland, Ontario L0R 2C0, for a visitation on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Tallman Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM with reception to follow.
