It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Lloyd “Bob” Edmunds on May 22, 2025 at the age of 69, peacefully in his home.
Bob was a man of loyalty, honesty and conviction, a true fighter for what he believed in. Deeply loved by his family, he lived a life of purpose, hard work and service.
A true jack of all trades, Bob embraced each chapter of his life with determination and pride, learning mechanics from his dad.
Bob worked for CN rail as a lineman also learning electrical with switch boards. He left the railway and took over the cherished family business Ruby’s Home Bakery, whose roots trace back to England. While operating the bakery, Bob earned his pasty chef certification. He shared his passion teaching the pastry chef program at Canadore College. Bob also found joy behind the wheel, earning recognition as an exceptional bus driver, even taken first place at the bus rodeo, a testament to his skills and care. Never one to shy away from hard work, Bob also earned his welding and explosive certifications.
Bob went on working with heavy machinery by working for Ryerson Township finishing his working career as public works supervisor.
Bob spent his life in a place he loved best: outdoors in the bush surrounded by the quiet strength of the land he knew like the back of his hand. It was here, on the family property that housed a maple syrup and tree farm, he found peace, purpose and joy and crossed over to the other side. Whether working the land or simply enjoying its stillness. Bob’s bond with nature was as deep as his roots.
Above all, Bob’s family meant everything to him. His greatest pride was found in the moments spent with those he loved, whether working together, sharing stories, or simply being present. His love was steadfast, his support fierce, and his presence a steady source of strength and comfort.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife Norma, his children Robert and Shannon (Elisha) and his treasured grandson Cameron. He will also be dearly missed by his sisters Wendy (Wayne predeceased) and Pam, as well as his nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his loving parents Lloyd and Ruby Edmunds.
As per Bob’s wishes there will be no service.
Bob’s life was a testament to the power of hard work, love and unwavering dedication. May he rest in peace, and may we carry his spirit with us always.
