Matti Nikolai Mannisto

Feb 12, 1957 — Aug 12, 2026

of Dunchurch

Peacefully at the West Parry Sound Health Centre on Wednesday August 12, 2026. Matti, beloved husband of Jill Rice was in his 70th year.

Dear father of Amanda Mannisto (Maurice French), Katrina Mannisto and the late Erkki Mannisto.

Proud grandfather of Shawn, Cameron, Liam, Erik, and Savannah.

Brother of Larry Victor Mannisto, Helena Fanjoy (Randy), Diane Mannisto (Darryl Jamieson), Leena Tainio (Esa), and Lauri Mannisto (Raija Liisa).

Uncle of Michael, Kristina, Shane, Cory, Kaiden, and Katja.

Matti will be remembered for his love of fishing and his dedication to winning the annual Rice-Mannisto-Jamieson “biggest fish” competition. Summer was the time to be out on the boat during the day, and stargazing at night.

Matti always dreamed of flying and became an avid pilot of radio controlled airplanes later in life. He loved exploring in his truck, looking for hidden fishing spots and wide open spaces where he could fly.

His dogs, Buddy, Sadie, and Rosie, will miss his soothing deep voice that kept them calm during thunderstorms.

And missed by all his family and friends.

Private family arrangements have been entrusted to the Opatovsky Funeral Home-Moore Chapel in Sundridge and a celebration of Matti’s life will be planned later.

If desired, memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
