Joe Rowley

Feb 8, 1941 — Jul 21, 2026

Katrine

Peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. Joe, beloved husband of the late Laura Rowley (nee Phillips) was in his 86th year.

Dear father of Ken Rowley (Wendy Rhodes) and Connie Rowley (Don Smith).

Proud grandfather of Cheryl Bain (Nick), Tammy Bens (Rick), Andrew Bristow (Charlotte Yarnell), Rebecca Bristow (Colin Yule), Jordan Smith and Destiny Smith (Brandon Simmons) and many great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

He is survived by sister Jackie Merrick, and brother Ed Rowley (Hazel).

Joe will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, family, extended family and friends.

Joe (Dad) — a remarkable man whose strength, generosity, and quiet wisdom left an enduring mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

His life was one of hard work; and a deep appreciation for the people and places he loved most. He found his greatest peace in the outdoors. Whether casting a line into a quiet lake or spending time hunting in the woods, snowmobiling or on his ATV, nature was where he felt most at home. Those moments became cherished memories shared with family and friends, reflecting the patience, humility, and gratitude that defined Dad’s character.

A gifted metal fabricator, Dad had an extraordinary talent for creating with his hands. He could envision and transform raw steel into something both functional and lasting. His craftsmanship was admired by many, but even more impressive was the pride and care he poured into every project. His work stands as a lasting testament to his skill, determination, and unwavering work ethic.

More than anything, he was devoted to Mom and family. His love was often expressed through his actions rather than words, and those quiet acts of care will remain in our hearts forever.

Although he is no longer by our side, his legacy lives on through the memories and the lives he touched. We find comfort in knowing that somewhere beyond our sight, he has found the peace he always sought in the stillness of nature and back beside Mom. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in our hearts.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Opatovsky Funeral Home-Dempster Chapel in Burk’s Falls.

A graveside service will be conducted in Burk’s Falls Cemetery commencing at 11:30 am on Saturday, August 15, 2026, with a Celebration of Joe’s life to follow at the Katrine Community Centre from 1 to 3 pm with opening comments and an opportunity to share stories from the podium commencing at 1:15pm.

If desired, memorial donations to Hospice Huntsville would be sincerely appreciated by the family. Floral tributes will be displayed at the graveside and community centre.
