MRS. JEAN EVELYN PITKANEN Of Sprucedale Peacefully at Leisureworld Muskoka in Gravenhurst on Sunday August 28, 2011. Mrs. Jean Pitkanen was in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of Vaino Pitkanen. Dear mother of Briane Birney (Linda), step children Paul Pitkanen and Karen Boyer (Dave) Cherished grandmother of Shawn (Carolyn) and Scott (Amy), Erikka, David, Jason and Joshua. Great grandmother to Connor, Liam and Renesh. Jean is predeceased by her parents Mary and George Meldrum and her siblings Irene, Mable, Elsie, John and Wilfred. The family will receive visitors at the Opatovsky Funeral Home-Dempster Chapel, 210 Ontario Street in Burk's Falls on Tuesday August 30, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service to celebrate the life of the late Mrs. Pitkanen will be conducted in the chapel commencing at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday August 31, 2011. Reverend Nina Fulford officiating. Interment in the Sprucedale Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
