It is with sadness that the family of Clarence Walter Pye announces his peaceful passing on Wednesday, October 7, while in the care of The Maples Nursing Home in Tavistock. Born on June 25, 1947, in Oxford County, Clare was the youngest of nine children and was raised in a hardworking farming family. Clare was predeceased by his parents, many of his siblings, his first wife Valerie Pye (Brenneman), and his loving companion Jill Etcher. After losing his first wife to a car accident Clare was blessed to meet his second wife, Valerie Gracey, with whom he spent many years raising his three children, blending their families together.
Clare is survived by his children, Dan, Nathan (Terri), Amberly (Jason), and Barb; his grandchildren, Alex, Taylor, and Emma.
After retiring, Clare embraced life in Northern Ontario, spending many years enjoying the peace and beauty of various northern communities. He found joy in the simple things: listening to country gospel music, watching western movies, reading paperback novels, and enjoying a good home-cooked meal. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of The Maples Nursing Home for the compassionate care and kindness they provided to Clare during his time there.
There will be a private burial at Strong Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Opatovsky Funeral Home – Moore Chapel. If desired, donations to the North Bay Humane Society would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
