Brenda Louise Grummett

Brenda passed peacefully at Huntsville and District Memorial Hospital on July 16, 2025 after a brief battle with cancer, with husband, Rod and niece, Valerie by her side. Brenda was predeceased by husband, Jim Leaker, her brother Stephen, sister in law, Manny and her parents Margaret and Lloyd Payne.

Brenda grew up on her family farm in Port Perry with brother, Stephen and sister, Denise. Brenda attended nursing school at Toronto East General Hospital graduating in 1973.

Brenda started working at the Burk’s Falls and District Red Cross Hospital after moving here in 1982 and later transferred to Huntsville and District Memorial Hospital where she worked as on OR nurse before retiring.

Brenda is survived by husband, Rod, sister Denise and her family, and brother Stephen’s family as well as many cousins. Brenda made many friends and will be missed by all in her community, here and in Aruba.

An informal Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 405 in Burk’s Falls on Saturday, August 9 from 1 – 3pm. Family and friends are invited to come and share stories and memories of Brenda. A light lunch will be served.

A private interment will take place at a later date for family.
